9-12 English/Forensics Advisor Email Phone: 715.275.3225 x2110 "The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read."
These words of the great American writer Mark Twain are at the center of my decision to become a teacher and my philosophical approach to education. Reading and writing has, at various points throughout history, been viewed as a commodity, a luxury, a challenge, a pastime, a threat, a bore, and a joy. As Twain says, reading is in itself, an advantage, but one that provides no benefit if it is not done regularly and with work worth reading.
I began my university education at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan in 2008 and "finished" in 2013 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. That summer, I was hired to teach English 10-12 at Elcho High School and have learned and grown along with our students over the past 7, going on 8, years. Living and working in the Northwoods of Wisconsin has been a joy.
