October 21, 2020
Dear Middle & High School Students and Parents,
I am happy to report that we are planning to return to in-person learning on Monday, October 26, 2020. Please see the list of changes below that we are aware of to date:
-
HS Football will resume on Sunday, October 25. See the school calendar for upcoming games.
-
Fall Homecoming will see some modifications. The Homecoming Court will be announced at the home football game on Saturday, November 7 at halftime. We will not be doing a parade or pep rally and we will be making changes to the timing of student dress-up days. Student Council will start making plans for a “Winter Sports Fest” during the basketball/wrestling seasons to have activities that more resemble a traditional homecoming in the winter months.
-
MS Football & MS Volleyball seasons have officially ended. Players should watch for information from their coaches regarding equipment turn-in.
-
HS Volleyball has been moved to the alternate Spring season at the end of February.
-
Heizler Photography plans to return on November 4th to take pictures for those who were not able to participate on September 29th.
-
Winter sports will begin on the following dates:
-
HS Girls Basketball: Monday, November 16
-
HS Boys Basketball & HS/MS Wrestling: Monday, November 23
-
MS Boys/Girls Basketball has been postponed to February
-
The PSAT has been moved to January 26 for those 10-11th grade students that signed up.
The first quarter will be ending on Thursday, October 29 as planned. To allow students ample time to turn in any missing work due to the closure, illness, or the need to quarantine, we will be issuing Pass/Incomplete grades on this date. Students will be given until Friday, November 13 to turn in any missing work before their Pass/Incompletes will be changed to the appropriate letter grade. These letter grades will be posted and report cards will be mailed home to parents before Thanksgiving break.
Students will not be allowed to dress up in Halloween costumes at school this year. Instead, students are invited to wear their best Halloween colors on Thursday, October 29 (see below). School-appropriate choices please- no hats or makeup. There will also be no middle school dance. The town of Elcho is still planning to do Trick or Treating on Saturday, October 31 from 4-6p.
6th: Black 9th: Orange
7th: Orange 10th: Green
8th: Green 11th: Purple

As a reminder, students and staff will still be implementing health and safety precautions such as the use of face-coverings, social distancing when possible, and practicing good hygiene. Students that are sick or have been identified as a close contact to someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 should stay home. We ask that parents share their child’s symptoms with the school office when they call in their absence so we can track illnesses with our school nurse.
We will continue to use Infinite Campus’ emergency messaging system to notify parents of COVID-19 updates, including any future transitions to remote learning. If you do not have access to your parent portal please contact the school office.
Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding as we aim to continuously improve our efforts to stay connected with students during periods of remote learning. We are excited to welcome students back into the building!
Thank you,
Mrs. Zutavern
