My goal is to help my students be ready for K-12 school AND life.
Thank you for visiting my Elcho 4K page! My name is Amanda Springstroh, aka: Ms. Amanda, and I am proud to be a Hornet and teaching 4K here in Elcho! I have been in Elcho 4K since 2022 and previously taught a variety of ages from infant/toddler childcare to 8th grade since 2005. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and am Wisconsin state licensed for early childhood through 8th grade.
My goal is to give your child the best first year of school possible and a solid foundation for reading, which picks up in Kindergarten. I think of 4K as "old school" Kindergarten. Not only do they learn academics but also how to get along with each other and handling social situations appropriately. In other words, everything needed to be successful in school and in the future. Plus, 4K is FUN!
We work on upper and lowercase letter naming, letter sounds, tracing, writing names, identifying colors and shapes, working on fine motor development in activities, rhyming and hearing individual sounds in words, learning fairy tales and nursery rhymes, counting and identifying numbers, spacial skills, logical reasoning, writing and drawing pictures, cutting, gluing, coloring, creating, science experiments, art activities (watercolors, product, process and directed drawings), reading books, retelling stories, predicting, knowing the front and back of books, nonfiction or fiction, knowing the difference between an author and illustrator, and center playtime learning how to build, create, get along and solve conflicts. We also have specials such as Music, Library, Guidance and Physical Education throughout the week. It sounds like a ton of stuff to learn, especially in only half a day, but it's all in daily lesson plans as the year goes on, and theyre at the best age to learn!
You can expect consistency and routine in my classroom, as well as open communication and knowledge of upcoming dates and events.
In the afternoons, I implement Math Interventions in the elementary school. I love spending time with the older students too, and bringing the "aha" moments to math in the classroom!
